Those old B/W videos have a much lower framerate when recorded than when played back usually. If you've ever watched an old film it looks like everyone is manically zipping around. That old blacksmith probably made that nail in 30-45 seconds rather than 15

I am a huge fan of your new face mill, I've used those and love them, they are super smooth on a heavy cut if the mill has the power to push it.

I dunno the cost of a reamer this size would have been but it would have definitely helped get you to a better spot before honing. That being said pretty good finish with just the hone.

The only question I have is what are you going to do with a "Steam" hammer once it is fully restored? Unless you have a steam source or a massive (and I do mean MASSIVE) air compressor, you won't be able to power it.

Could you have used an acid brush and “painted” on the acid on the metal parts of the handle?

What I don't understand... why are you precision grinding surfaces that are going to be put under excessive force from steam hammer blows anyways? I mean, wouldn't that ruin any precision ground surface anyways? Edit: nevermind, i asked before reaching the point where you say you just want to do as good as you can cause you can

serious question: are those nails any good? They seem quite short for their thckness. I know of nails that are only tapered on 2 sides, so they make a slot instead of a hole to not spread open the fibers of wood. SO again: Whats the usecase of the nails in the video?

So you had the mill there but didn't cut off/ drill out those old bolts? It always blows me away the things people decide to skip during restorations.

That thing you called a too heavy cut was probably not :) With round tip you could probably go 4-6mm deep and 60% of the tool width :) Increase the speed and make sure the speed and feed is correct so that the heat disepates in the ships :D

Glad to see all the progress, things are really ramping up now. I also love the idea of the power hammer creating something from itself, if even possible.
